YOGA-TARA IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

In Vedic astrology, there are 27 stars or constellation. The brightest star among this fixed Constellation is called Yoga-Tara. This Yoga-Tara may be a Group of star of a constellation or a single bright and fixed Nakshatra of a constellation.

If any planets are in close to Yoga-Tara degree then they give their special attributes to the planets and specific results can be predicted as per the Yoga-Tara characteristics.

Yoga-Taras, being the most prominent stars among  the 27 nakshatras is used for the interpretation of  a Horoscope. Especially, the conjunction of the planets, especially of the Moon with them. If you have any natal planet especially Lagna (Asc) and 7th House/Bhava (Dsc) or any other planets in your chart close to Yoga-Tara degree then they give their special attributes to that planet.

There are several rules for interpreting these stars in a Horoscope or Birth Chart:

  1. When a planet is in the same sign with any one of the 28 Bright Stars, they add special influence and flavours.
  2. When a fixed star is conjunct the  Lagna (Asc) or Dasham Bhava (MC)  it indicates good fortune at an early age.
  3. When conjunct the  Seventh House/Bhava (Dsc),  prosperity comes around at the middle age, or through marriage.
  4.  When conjunct the 4-th House/Bhava (I.C.), “great luck will arrive in old age.”  Moreover, if any one of these stars is on the Lagna, life will be glorious, practical, leadership-oriented, busy with many pursuits, and bountiful in resources.
  5. If the moon matches any of the Bright Stars, especially by its sign placement, “life will be brilliant, notable, and easily traversed.”

Here is a “List of Yoga-Tara”  as per SURYA SIDDHANTA with their true longitudes (and latitudes) from the first point of Aries which is 10' to the East of the Revati Nakshatra.
